Fiesta Hispana Returns to Kansas City: A Celebration of Culture and Community!

Hey there, Kansas City! Are you ready to feel the vibrancy of Hispanic culture? This weekend, the much-loved Fiesta Hispana is back, and it’s bigger than ever! After more than 40 years of delighting locals and visitors alike, this festival has grown into one of the largest Hispanic celebrations in the Midwest, welcoming over 40,000 visitors annually. The excitement is in the air as festival-goers prepare to embrace the lively atmosphere filled with music, food, art, and community spirit.

A New Venue for a New Adventure

While the festival is a staple in Kansas City, you might notice a change in scenery this year. Fiesta Hispana will be moving from its traditional downtown location due to ongoing redevelopment work at the beloved Barney Allis Plaza. But worry not! The festival is headed to the American Royal Complex in the West Bottoms, right next to HyVee Arena. This new venue promises to be just as vibrant and accessible for festival enthusiasts.

Mark your calendars, folks! The festival kicks off on Friday, September 13, and runs through Sunday, September 15. Here’s what you need to know about the timing:

  • Friday: 5 p.m. to 11 p.m.
  • Saturday: 12 p.m. to 11 p.m.

The highlight of Fiesta Hispana is, without a doubt, the fantastic lineup of musical entertainment. You can look forward to performances from Mariachi and Tejano bands, as well as various international groups showcasing their diverse sounds. And don’t forget about the breathtaking folkloric and Spanish dance performances—these will be an absolute treat for your eyes and ears!

More Than Just Music

But Fiesta Hispana is not only about the music; it’s also a celebration of culture in every form! As you wander through the festival, you’ll find dozens of booths offering a feast for the senses. Tantalize your taste buds with delicious Hispanic cuisine, explore beautiful fine art, jewelry, and clothes, and learn about various employment opportunities and health services. There’s something for everyone!

Fun for All Ages

Families will love the dedicated children’s area, where little ones can explore fun activities and crafts. Plus, don’t miss the special exhibit documenting the rich history of local Hispanic settlers. It’s an excellent way to connect with the community and learn something new!

Parking Made Easy

For those planning to drive, you’ll be happy to know that free parking is available on surrounding streets and in some lots. Just a heads-up though—some lots might charge a fee, so it’s a good idea to plan ahead.
