Father and Son Arrested in Connection to Shooting Related to Missing Vehicle
KANSAS CITY, Mo. – A recent incident was recounted by the Jackson County Prosecutors’ Office in which a missing vehicle led to a tragic shooting on Saturday. The area around 34th and Wyoming was the scene of a confrontation after a father and son, Charles Harrison Jr. and Charles Harrison Sr., followed a tracking device to an apartment complex in the area.
The Charges
The authorities apprehended the father and son duo, and the charges reveal a severe scenario. Harrison Jr. has been indicted with first-degree assault, armed criminal action, and unlawful use of a weapon. On the other hand, Harrison Sr. faces charges of first-degree assault and armed criminal action. The stern charges reflect the severity of the crime and the consequences they are now facing.
The Incident
As noted from the court records, officers from the Kansas City Police Department were dispatched to the scene following a report of a shooting. Upon arrival, they discovered one victim on the ground suffering from gunshot wounds. The unfortunate victim was a 22-year-old named K’yiel Collins-Phillips, who was pronounced dead at the scene.
Harrison Jr. declared that he was merely tracking a vehicle reported stolen in Raytown to that area. The story goes that he and his father drove to the location in a black Toyota. However, the court records show videos wherein a vehicle is seen accelerating towards the victim just when the shots were fired.
Investigation in Progress
The shocking incident continues to leave the community in distress, with many unanswered questions. The case remains open to investigation by the Jackson County Prosecutor’s Office to unearth all the mysteries surrounding the tragic incident.
