Early Voting Commences in Kansas City, Jackson County with No-Excuse Absentee Voting

Early Voting Begins for Kansas City and Jackson County Residents

INDEPENDENCE, Mo — As the anticipated April 2 election looms closer, residents of Kansas City and Jackson County bid a hearty welcome to the no-excuse absentee voting period starting Tuesday. Marking the commencement of the democratic process, the Jackson County Election Board has expressed concern for the slow initial turnout.

“Regrettably, the turnout may not be as significant as we hoped. However, we expect a different scenario to unfurl in August and November,” shared Sara Zorich, director of the Jackson County Election Board.

Starting from March 19, citizens of Kansas City and Jackson County can exercise their right to vote via visiting various polling locations across the counties. The no-excuse voting period, requiring no justification for early voting, extends until the day before the election.

Voters Encouraged to Exercise Their Rights Early

Zorich encourages voters to take advantage of this unique opportunity to cast their vote early. “It’s your right, first and foremost, and it unquestionably makes a difference. Your voice needs to be heard,” voiced Zorich fervently.

Randy Farris, an absentee voter, advocates for early voting and considers it a convenient option for situations where voters might be unavailable on Election Day. ”It proves extremely convenient. This is the second time I have utilized it due to personal trips to visit family.”

Polling Locations Ready to Receive Voters

In Kansas City, voters have three possible polling locations: The Shops on Blue Parkway, United Believers Community Church, and The Whole Person. Meanwhile, residents residing outside Kansas City confines in Jackson County can cast their votes early at the Jackson County Election Office, situated in Independence.

The election board emphasizes that voters should know their polling site and bring the necessary identification. More information regarding the polling sites and steps for early voting can be obtained from their official website.
