HomeGrown Breaks into Downtown Kansas City, Becoming a Potential Brunch Favorite
Official Opening at KC’s Power and Light District
Kansas City, MO – A boutique breakfast and brunch chain based in Wichita has officially opened its doors in downtown Kansas City, establishing a new branch amidst the lively Power and Light District. HomeGrown, widely known for its breakfast and brunch offerings, commenced service on Tuesday, bringing a unique and flavorful addition to the local dining scene.
A Breath of Fresh ‘Farm-To-Table’ Air
Well-regarded for its year-round menu of sustainable dishes, HomeGrown is now the only full-service breakfast restaurant within the Power & Light District. The fresh dining concept also apportions handcrafted cocktails and introduces a rotating seasonal menu featuring crafted, locally sourced ingredients. The new downtown location is open from 7 a.m. to 2 p.m. daily, previously occupied by the Flying Saucer Draught Emporium.
Origin and Expansion Goals
HomeGrown was founded by Wichita entrepreneurs, Lauren and Jon Rolph, in May 2017, and is now a proud member of the Thrive Restaurant Group. The group has also made contributions to the downtown district’s dining offerings earlier this year with their Modern Market branch, a committed ‘made-from-scratch’ eatery that strongly advocates for sustainable ingredients.
Welcoming HomeGrown and Modern Market
“We’re thrilled to share that HomeGrown and Modern Market locations are now open in the iconic District,” declared Jon Rolph, president of Thrive Restaurant Group. The group operates across 15 states, with more than 170 restaurants under its wing.
HomeGrown offers a cornucopia of breakfast classics including omelets, avocado toast, buttermilk pancakes and traditional lunch meals like soups, salads, and sandwiches. The inauguration of the downtown Kansas City branch marks the opening of their ninth location and fourth spot in the Kansas City area over the past three years.
Boosting the Community
HomeGrown adopts a hosting approach that fosters partnerships with local businesses to further bolster the community. Contacting with other Kansas City area businesses, HomeGrown ensures that its Kansas City locale restaurants serve local products such as Scratch Bakery pastries, Shatto Milk Co. dairy products, Messenger Coffee, and tea from KC Tea Co.
Diversifying the Local Dining Scene
John Moncke, president of the downtown district, expressed his pleasure saying, “We are excited to see the continued momentum of our evolving dining scene with diverse and robust options.” He believes HomeGrown is the perfect addition to the district, as it grows their breakfast and lunch offerings, adding sustainable, locally sourced options.
