Overland Park Hosts Free Event for Cold Water Paddling Enthusiasts

Overland Park Welcomes Paddlers to Cold Water Prep Event

Hey there, Overland Park! If you love paddling but think the colder months mean it’s time to pack up your kayak or paddleboard, think again! Exciting news for all you water lovers: a free informational meet-and-greet is happening soon, specifically dedicated to cold water paddling enthusiasts.

Join Paddle KC for a Fun Evening

This special event is organized by the friendly folks at Paddle KC and will take place on Monday, October 21, at 6:30 p.m. You’re invited to gather at Chicken and Pickle, located at 5901 W. 135th St.. It promises to be an informative evening mixed with a bit of fun.

Curious about cold-weather paddling? The event aims to help kayakers, canoeists, and paddleboarders learn how to safely extend their paddling season into the cooler months. Plus, you’ll get to enjoy dinner, drinks, and plenty of socializing while you soak up some valuable knowledge about staying safe on the water.

What to Expect at the Event

During the session, attendees will dive into the best practices for cold weather paddling. Experts will cover the crucial topics of how to dress for the cold and what gear will keep you safe and warm while you paddle. You’ll even be able to see comparisons of different options, helping you make informed choices for your adventures.

As if that wasn’t exciting enough, there will also be some raffle prizes given away during the evening! Talk about an incentive to participate! One standout prize is an Eddyline Sky 10 Kayak, valued at a whopping nearly $1,300. So, you might just walk away with a fantastic new toy for your paddling journey!

Prepare for Cold Water Adventures

Cold water paddling definitely has its challenges, but with the right preparation, you can experience the breathtaking beauty of fall foliage, stunning winter landscapes, and the refreshing waters of early spring. An event coordinator from Paddle KC emphasized, “Winter and fall paddling can be a wonderful experience, but it requires proper preparation. This clinic will give paddlers the knowledge they need to safely enjoy the water year-round while avoiding costly mistakes when buying gear.”

You can also look forward to valuable information about the upcoming Cold Water Gear Test happening on November 3. This hands-on event will allow you to try out various cold weather gear and see firsthand how they perform on the water.

A Community of Paddlers

Whether you’re a seasoned paddler or a newbie just dipping your toes into the sport, this event welcomes everyone! Paddle KC members are eager to connect with fellow paddling enthusiasts and share their love for safe paddling even as temperatures drop. With a community focused on fun and safety, it’s a fantastic chance to mingle and learn.

If you’re ready to embrace the chill and continue paddling throughout the fall and winter, make sure to register for this not-to-be-missed event! Gather your paddling friends and come out to learn how to paddle safely through the colder months. Who knows, you might even inspire others to join in the fun!
