Kansas City Chiefs Rally Shooting Victims Still Awaiting Disbursements from ‘KC Strong’ Fund Amid Continued Delays by United Way

Kansas City Chiefs Rally Shooting Victims Waiting on ‘KC Strong’ Fund Disbursements

Delays in Financial Aid bu United Way

In Kansas City, Missouri, victims of the horrific Chiefs Super Bowl rally shooting are yet to see the support they were promised. United Way, the nonprofit responsible for the disbursement, continues to postpone the issue of nearly $2 million raised for the victims. Despite previous projections that the payments would start after Memorial Day, the money remains untouched in the organization’s bank account.

Moving Goalpost

Following another delay, the organization issued a statement saying that the final allocation would now occur on Friday, June 27th, and not before. According to the statement: “Funds will begin to be deposited to recipients as soon as the very next day through the individual or entity’s indicated preferred payment method. Many chose direct deposit, which will go through much quicker than those requesting paper check.”

Donor’s Views on The Delays

Despite the delays, some donors remain optimistic. Robert Duensing, the owner of the popular Best Regards Bakery and Café, believes that the funds will eventually reach where they are needed. His small business, a fixture in Johnson County for over 31 years, donated nearly $7000 to the fund.

We looked at it and said we need to do something. It was such a shock and it hurt a lot of us when that happened, and so we felt the need to do something that was going to make a difference,,” Duensing said. Despite the limited resources of his small business, Duensing felt a responsibility to contribute and chose to trust the process.

February 14 Tragedy – A Day of Joy Turns Sour

On February 14, Kansas City was expected to be filled with joy and celebration for the victory of the Kansas City Chiefs. However, the event turned into a nightmare due to a fatal shooting. The incident shook the community and led to a massive fundraising effort to help the victims.

Looking Ahead

While the timeline has shifted, many remain hopeful that the victims will receive the financial aid they desperately need. The city, its residents, and supporters around the world are eagerly waiting for the day when the victims can finally move on with the support they were promised.

Conclusion

The delays in processing the KC Strong fund by United Way raise serious concerns about the timelines and processes related to victims’ support in times of crisis. Amid the anguish of awaiting much-needed financial assistance, the victims of this tragic event can only hope for smoother operations and quicker responses in the future. However, as the city continues to rally around them, it is clear that the spirit of Kansas City remains Strong.
