Get ready, Overland Park! A new addition to the area is just around the corner, and it’s sure to bring a lot of sweet excitement. The popular Texas-based chain, Bahama Buck’s, known for its delicious shaved ice and tropical treats, is set to open a location here in Johnson County.
Founded back in 1990 in Lubbock, Texas, Bahama Buck’s has made quite a name for itself over the years. They specialize in all things icy and refreshing. Imagine a place where you can enjoy shaved ice, acai bowls, sodas, and smoothies. Sounds like a dream, right? This vibrant chain features more than 100 gourmet syrup flavors and toppings that will make your head spin with options! From popping candy to cookies and gummy bears, there are endless combinations to create the perfect icy treat.
Some beloved items on their menu include the Mangonada, which blends shaved ice with mango flavor, chamoy, and chili salt, and the Shark Attack Sno, a delightful concoction of berry colada shaved ice drizzled with sour patch sauce. Yum!
The exciting news? Bahama Buck’s will be building a 950-square-foot store near the northwest corner of 135th Street and Nieman Road. The development project is currently under review by the Overland Park City Council, with a meeting scheduled for October 7. The site, which is just north of the Community National Bank and south of the Neiman Plaza shopping center, is in a prime location to attract busy families and dessert lovers alike.
In terms of layout, this new location won’t offer any indoor seating. Instead, there will be a convenient single-lane drive-thru that wraps around the east side of the shop. It’s designed to serve about 10 to 15 customers an hour, making it easy to grab a tasty treat on the go. Plus, there will be four dedicated parking spaces at the front of the building, along with additional shared parking available at the shopping center to the north.
While this will be Bahama Buck’s first location in Kansas, they already have more than 100 locations nationwide, with a couple of others in Missouri located in Branson and St. Peters. This means that many folks are already familiar with their mouth-watering offerings, and now the people of Overland Park will have the chance to indulge as well.
As the Overland Park City Council considers the developer’s zoning request, the excitement is building! If you’re a fan of summer treats, unique flavors, and fun toppings, you’ll definitely want to keep your ears open for more updates on the opening dates and offerings once the project receives the green light.
So, Overland Park residents, get ready for a fun, tropical escape right in your own backyard. Bahama Buck’s is sure to bring smiles, cool treats, and a taste of sunshine to the community. It won’t be long until you’re sipping on a refreshing smoothie or savoring a vibrant shaved ice treat!
