Akira Galaxy: Charting the Course of Her Dream-Pop Journey Ahead of Thursday’s Performance at Uptown Theater Show

Akira Galaxy: Shaping Her Dream-Pop Ahead of Thursday’s Encore at Uptown Theater Show

Kansas City, MO – Earlier in 2024, celestial dream-pop artist Akira Galaxy introduced us to her intoxicating sound with the release of her debut EP What’s Inside You.

The EP, a shimmering collection of tracks crafted to perfectly soundtrack late night summer dance parties, quickly caught listeners’ attention and built an eager audience for her upcoming performances. Adding to the spectacle is the enchanting video of her single ‘Silver Shoes,’ directed by renowned visual artist David Black.

Akira Galaxy will continue her rise at the Encore at Uptown Theater this Thursday, July 11, when she hits the stage in support of the Winnetka Bowling League. We caught up with the talented artist to delve into the journey that led her to this point and discuss the future.

Carving Out Her Sound

When asked about the time and care she took in crafting her debut EP, Akira Galaxy cited a desire for authenticity and artistic growth.

According to Galaxy, “I wanted to wait until I had a sound that fully embodies who I am right now, something that I was craving to hear in the world.” Citing the culmination of circumstance, time, environment, and hard work, Galaxy believes she finally found “something that I could really stand by.”

Into the Collaborative Realm

Galaxy credits her experience in high school bands for teaching her about the dynamics of collaboration. The artist sees the partnership with producers and fellow writers as an essential aspect of creating music. Akira stands by the philosophy of sometimes letting others take control, trusting the process, and allowing room for creative freedom and experimentation.

Unleashing Creativity On and Off-Stage

Beyond her work as a singer-songwriter, Galaxy also does some modeling, which she believes has enriched her creative process and helped present her music visually. She also plans to take acting and improvisation classes to increase her comfort with stage performances and interviews.

For Galaxy, moving forward involves embracing spontaneity and stepping outside of her comfort zone. As much as she appreciates perfection, the artist is learning to let spontaneous moments breathe without overthinking them.

Fueling the Future

Galaxy revealed that her upcoming project would be shaped around live performances with a strong focus on up-tempo songs. She is excited about generating an energetic connection with her audience, making sure their bodies are in sync with her, and giving them songs they can move around to.

On tour with Winnetka Bowling League, Galaxy promises a riveting set featuring a good chunk of new songs and a bigger band than her fans have ever seen. Armed with a newfound freedom to move around and connect with her audience, Galaxy is eager to conquer the stage at the Uptown Theater this Thursday, July 11.
