Kansas City’s Tech Scene Thrives with SafetyCulture’s Growth Plans

In a major boost for Kansas City, global tech firm SafetyCulture is sticking to its ambitious growth strategy, aiming to double its workforce in the region over the next two years. The news comes even as the company transitions to new leadership with Kelly Vohs stepping in as CEO from the bustling city of New York.

Kansas City Office Remains Vital

Local executive Kylie Uvodich, the general manager of SafetyCulture for the Americas, confirmed that the Kansas City office continues to play a crucial role in the company’s journey. “I don’t think it will impact the Kansas City office at all. We continue to add to this office. We have plenty of open roles,” she stated, highlighting the strong focus on local operations.

Despite Vohs being based in New York, Uvodich reassured the community that Kansas City, with its existing 87 full-time employees, is set for significant expansion. “Kansas City is such an important part of SafetyCulture’s journey, and we’ve been around for a really long time,” she added. This is great news for job seekers in the area!

What Does SafetyCulture Do?

For those who might not know, SafetyCulture has developed an innovative tech platform that assists businesses in meeting safety requirements in the workplace. With around 900 employees globally spread across five offices, the Kansas City branch has emerged as the company’s second-largest office, trailing only behind its headquarters in Sydney, Australia.

A Strong Commitment to Customer Service

SafetyCulture’s strategic decision to place Vohs in a leadership position reflects a long-term commitment to better serve their growing customer base in the U.S. Over 30% of SafetyCulture’s clients hail from the U.S., making it the company’s largest market. Uvodich explained, “You can better support your customers when you understand the United States, North and South America.” Vohs’ extensive network and background make him a perfect fit for the role.

Plans for Further Expansion

So, what’s next for SafetyCulture? While the company is currently focused on Kansas City, Uvodich mentioned that they are also considering opening additional offices in the U.S. “We could add other offices in the future, such as in New York City,” she speculated. Other potential cities include Dallas, Houston, or Miami, where a more diverse workforce fluent in Portuguese and Spanish can better serve their South American customers.

A Local Culture That Shines

During a recent visit, Vohs expressed admiration for the local talent and vibrant culture that has been cultivated at the Kansas City office. Uvodich remarked, “He shares the same sentiment I do: The culture we’ve built in Kansas City is unlike anything else.” Building on this unique workplace culture is a priority for Vohs as he looks to enhance the company’s presence across the globe.

Exciting Times Ahead

As the new CEO, Vohs comes with valuable experience and a strong understanding of the SafetyCulture platform, having been a customer since 2013. This background, combined with his leadership experience, positions him well to take the company to new heights. With employees enjoying perks like food prepared by an in-house chef ensuring that lunch is always a highlight of the day, it’s clear that SafetyCulture is dedicated to creating a great workplace.

With exciting plans for growth and expansion, SafetyCulture is set to continue making a big impact in Kansas City while ensuring that they maintain strong relationships with their customers. The future looks bright, and who knows what other opportunities could be on the horizon for this thriving tech community!
