Kansas City Father and Son Facing Charges for Illegal Firearms and Drug Trafficking
Unsealed Indictment Reveals Serious Charges
In a surprising turn of events on Saturday, May 11, 2024, it was revealed that a Kansas City, Missouri father and son duo have been facing serious charges from a federal grand jury. The suspects, identified as Nathan Caldwell, Sr., 52, and his son Nathan Caldwell, Jr., 32, are accused to be involved in an illicit trade of firearms and narcotics, a case that dates back to late December 2023.
Engaging in Unlicensed Sale of Firearms
According to details from the unsealed indictment, the accused father and son have been indicted on a 29-count charge. The charges encompass operating a firearms business without the necessary legal licensing, the unlawful possession of firearms, along with allegations of drug trafficking. They were arrested and made their initial court appearances today as the indictment was made available to the public.
Additional Charges for the Father
In addition to these charges, several more accusations have been leveled against Nathan Caldwell, Sr., also known as “Prince Bossalinie”. He faces 10 counts of being a felon found in possession of firearms, alongside eight counts related to the distribution of methamphetamine. Furthermore, he also confronts charges of distributing cocaine, distributing marijuana, and possession of a firearm for the enhancement of a drug-trafficking crime. The senior Caldwell has previously been convicted for being a felon in possession of a firearm, an attempt to commit aggravated assault, aid to a felon, attempted possession of cocaine, conspiracy to commit robbery, and possessing cocaine.
Accusations Against the Son
Meanwhile, Nathan Caldwell, Jr., is facing less, but no less serious charges. He has been charged on three counts of unlawful possession of a firearm, and three counts of distributing marijuana. He is already a convicted felon previously found guilty of assault charges.
Illegal Activities Punishable by Federal Law
Under the standing federal law, any person having a felony conviction is strictly prohibited from having any firearm or ammunition in their possession. Therefore, this indictment puts both the father and the son, who are both convicted felons, in potential legal jeopardy.
Presumption of Innocence
As per the norm, these charges are mere accusations at the moment, and the suspects are presumed innocent until proven guilty. The evidence supporting these charges still has to be presented before a federal trial jury, which will ultimately make the final decision regarding their guilt or innocence.
